[mrtg] DS3 interfaces commented out?

For some reason MRTG 2.9.x cfgmaker comments out DS3 interface targets.
The generated config file has the following comments above each DS3
target:

### The following interface is commented out because:
### * it is a DS3 controller

Is there something unusual about DS3 interfaces that might prevent MRTG
from working properly?  Couldn't they be handled the same as serial
interfaces?
