It creates all the entries it needs when the log file is created.
As time goes on, data gets "consolidated" so that if you want to
see what activity was happening 8 weeks ago, the best resolution
you would get is a 1 day average (and if using WithPeak, the peak
usage for the day).
The width of the graph (generally speaking) controls how many data
points are in each segment. There are four segments:
daily - 5minute samples (33 1/3 hours, or 33 hours and 20 minutes)
300 seconds apart
weekly - 30 minute averages (200 hours, or 8 days and 8 hours)
1800 seconds apart
monthly - 2 hour averages (800 hours, or 33 days and 8 hours)
7200 seconds apart
yearly - 1 day averages (9600 hours, or 400 days)
86400 seconds apart
The math is pretty easy once you get the concept...
So, if you take the default of a 400 wide pixellated graph, you get
400 lines for each
