[mrtg] Graph in bits but stats below graph are in bytes?

I have gone through all the documentation I can get my hands on, along with searching the mailing list archives and have not been able to find the answer to the following problem:

My MRTG graphs are displaying in bits per second which is what I want, but then the stats below the graph (Max In, Average In, Current In, Max Out, Average Out, Current Out) are being displayed in Bytes per second.  I do have the following bit option in the cfg so that it will multiply all the variables by 8:

"Options[eth]: bits" 

I want everything, including the stats below the graph to be displayed in bits per second.  Any ideas as to what the problem might be?
