Hi Michael

It looks like your SNMP Agent on your localhost doesnt work right. On Linux
and some other unixes is a command provided to read SNMP MIBs, its called
snmpget. I dont think there is the same command around on a Windows PC but
there are a lot of little tools around that enable you to read the MIBs from
remote or local agents. Look on the Inet for SNMPget tools or like this.
If you have access to a Linux server try this:

snmpget -c exs yourhost system.sysName.0

that should return you your hostname if the community is right and the agent
is running properly.

I followed the advice of list user and after re-running cfgmaker, I get
the following error:

Has anyone seen this before?  How do I test my snmp?  I'm running
windows 2000 sp2.  I've recreated the public community.  my next step is
removing and readding the snmp service.   Any suggestions?
