The log file "lasts" for up to about 14 months, with differing
resolution depending on what you want to do. The number
of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly entries are detailed
in the mrtg docs.

To avoid overwriting the content, don't write to the file,
just read from it. You could always run your reports as
a user that only has read access to the file.

Hi,

ive got another "newbie" question:
I want to use the logfile to generate reports on-demand.
How long lasts the logfile ?
How can i avoid overwriting its content?

Regards,

Olli
