[mrtg] Do I need the KILO-option for getting the correct ifOctets?

Hi,

I am not sure what the values of the MIB-variables IfInOctets,IfOutOctets
show.
Do these values contain the full overhead of encapsulation?

What does MRTG graph?    52k=52000bit ???

An explanation for a novice would be fine,
