Time warp: The current time is before the last update time.

The log file was updated at Thu Aug 15 02:35:05 2002 your time.
The current time on your box is before that time.

Sure it is increasing. Time flies when you're debugging^Whaving fun.

Eventually the time on the box be later than the last update time.
However, I think the time isn't set properly.

Query the time in UTC mode. Compare with a known-good time source
such as http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/SEhelp/TimeZone.html

Current time on my system matches the time from above link.

                [alex at home alex]$ date;date -u; date +%s
wall clock: Thu Aug 15 01:57:54 CEST 2002
UTC time: Wed Aug 14 23:57:54 UTC 2002
epoch time: 1029369474

Your system thinks it is 1029338254 (most likely a bit later
right now). Hmmm... 6 hours slow. You probably see no difference
when you do "date;date -u" --> Time zone problem and computer time
set to wall clock time.

On time zones: make sure you use the right sign.
There's a system where you say "local time is UTC + 2 hours" and
there's a system where you say "local time is -2 hours west of UTC".
They mean the same thing!

Make sure the power is OK --> use UPS
Make sure the time is correct --> use NTP.
Make sure the time zone is correct --> OS setting
