Naveen,

It depends on how you have set up MRTG, and if you are using rrd. The
following applies only in the case you are not usingrrd.
As long as you don't have IP-addresses in the generated filenames you
can simply change the IP-address of a router and make the same change of
address in the MRTG config file.
If you do have IP-adresses in the filenames just copy the .log and .old
files and change the part of the name with the IP-address to the new
IP-address. Then change the IP-address of the router and make the
appropriate changes in the MRTG config file. Do not forget to change the
links in your html pages.

Jan.

Subject: [mrtg] IP Changes on WAN - But keep exisitng data

Hi,,

I am monitoring a network with about 20 Cisco routers. We have data from
January this year. There has been a request to change all the IP
addresses on all devices to a private addresse scheme.I need to keep the
history for the routers, How do I keep the devices from not losing the
history after they are cut over to the new ip adresses.

Eg: Exisiting ip is 193.0.5.x
New ip is to be changed to 10.0.5.x

Exisiting config script -
