You need to have the output like so:

7
(another number)
Machine name
uptime

The description on the left can be changed - I think it is YLegend.
If it's not, it's in the manual here
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/reference.html
and search for YLegend.

HTH!

Hi !

I asked on the list a while ago how to get data from a nonsnmp source
and got some good and helpful answears.
I have now tried this with some success and some minor failures. :)

I get no data to show on the graph.

I made a small shellscript which collects the data and returns a number
on a own line. Executed from the prompt it looks like this:
[root at localhost muf]# ./get_login
7
[root at localhost muf]#

Of course, the number differs, between 0 and 100 approximately. However
I want to use the excellent scaling mrtg uses.

I added this into the mrtg.cfg like this:
Target[192.168.0.1_2]:`/opt/www/www.egp.cx/pub/site/muf/get_login`
and got maxbytes like:
MaxBytes[192.168.0.1_2]: 125

The complete mrtg.cfg can be found at http://www.egp.cx/muf/mrtg.cfg

>From here I'm out of ideas. I thought I might look somewhere to see if
it collected the number, but i dont know where. Does the data from the
shellscript need to be formatted in someway?

The graphs are supposed to be here; http://www.egp.cx/muf/

Is it possible to change the title on the left of the graphs from "Bits
per second" to something else?

Thanks for your time,
	Eric Persson
