You don't need to use the OID if you load the MIB, thats the whole point of
loading MIBs in MRTG.

Target[xyz]:
x25StatTxDMFrameCount.instance&x25StatTxDMFrameCount.instance:public at ipaddre
ss

Just replace INSTANCE with the instance number you want to monitor.

Subject: [mrtg] OID vs. MIB ?

Dear list,

I have now got a MIB for a network device I am going to monitor.
I may read in the MIB by a statement in the cfg-file,
but how do I design my TARGET statement ?

What I do not understand is how I can figure out the numeric OID.
Also I tried to use the symbolic name, but it is not obvious for me how
MRTG can/will find the complete OID based on the fractional symbolc name
in my MIB.

Take this one as an example :

x25StatTxDMFrameCount OBJECT-TYPE
 SYNTAX Counter
 ACCESS read-only
 STATUS mandatory
 DESCRIPTION
"Number of DM frames transmitted since the last time statistics were
cleared."
 ::=  { x25StatEntry 19 }

How can I call this one ?

Brgds,
Lars
