David,

I run MRTG on NT 4.0 with a package called Fire Daemon. It will run MRTG as
a service. Also, in your mrtg.cfg file you should have the RunAsDaemon:Yes
set. This will set it to run every 5 minutes.

Subject: [mrtg] Running MRTG as service on W2K server

I currently have mrtg 2.9.17 running on a Windows 2000 server and
it works fine but I'd like to run the process as a service instead
of as a CMD executable. So far, I have successfully created a
service using the SRVANY.EXE tool from the Windows 2000 Resource
Kit but it only creates the webpages once upon initial startup of
the service. I am looking for the 5 minute interval that I get
when I execute the CMD file manually.

Has anyone had any success running mrtg as a service on a Windows
2000 server? Any hints suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Again, all works great if I just run it from the CMD line.

Thanks,

David Soden
