[mrtg] 2.9.17 logging option doesn't seem to be working

    Hello.
    I'm trying to use the --logging option with my MRTG setup. It doesn't
seem to be working.
I'm running 2.9.17 on Solaris 8.
    I invoke MRTG, from a crontab file, with this line

/usr/local/mrtg-2.9.17/bin/mrtg --logging /opt/mrtg_syslog_info/aal-adtn2k
/home/mrtg/cfg-adtn2k/adtn2k-aal.cfg

    but I still get warning messages in the inbox of the mrtg user like
this.

produced the following output:

Rateup WARNING: /usr/local/mrtg-2.9.17/bin/rateup Can't remove
aal-adtn2k_serial4_3.old updating log file

    All I'm getting in the aal-adtn2k file are messages like this

2002-07-26 14:55:10 -- Started mrtg
2002-07-26 15:00:09 -- Started mrtg
2002-07-26 15:05:10 -- Started mrtg
***********

    Can anybody please give me a pointer as to what I'm doing wrong?
