[mrtg] Problems graphing data from external script

Hi

Hopefully someone out there can help me.. 
I'm collecting data using a script, which returns data like so:

CERBERUS# /usr/local/mrtg/imgcount.php
40
686
ages
The Server

I can only get my graph to show anything if i use "options[img]: gauge", but it's not gauge type data, it's ever-increasing totals.
When i don't use options gauge the graph just shows 0's.

first few lines in the logfile:

1024598401 40 686
1024598401 0 0 0 0
1024598101 0 0 0 0
1024598100 0 0 0 0
1024597800 0 0 0 0
1024597500 0 0 0 0

Why is it recording zeros even though the numbers are increasing??
