[mrtg] the simplest monitoring

Hello,

I am new to the mrtg and would like to know the most simplest pack of lines
written to mrtg.cnf when I want to monitor for example number of mysql
processes using this easy script:

----------------- mysql-pcs.sh -----------------
#!/bin/sh
echo `ps -A | grep mysql | wc -l`
-------------- end of mysql-pcs.sh -------------

I have found hints how to track two variables but how to track one as I
request ?
