Well I want it scaled, I want to be able to set the scale. If I set unscaled it will scale to the maxbytes setting. If I set the maxbytes setting to where I want the scale it sounds like it will not save the data that is higher than maxbytes.
I want to keep that data but have the graphs scaled to a lower value.

Try using the Unscaled[]:dwmy option. This way the graphs will show a
y-axis of 0,25,50,100%. MRTG won't scale the results according to bandwidth
used.

Subject: [mrtg] Changing the scale on the graphs
Every night a backup runs and every server pegs the bandwidth to 10 Mbits.
This is Much higher than normal traffic. I want to keep the data that is
gathered but I want to reduce the scale of the graphs that are generated to
make the normal traffic visible. Is the a way to do this?
