This depends.
If you told MRTG to query the box with IP address a.b.c.d and this
address changes then yes, you need to modify your config file. If
you don't do that, you'd be monitoring another box that happened to
get your previous address (and this will probably fail).
If you're running MRTG on the box being monitored I think it makes
sense to use the localhost address 127.0.0.1 which won't change.
