If you are not monitoring the box itself, no.
If you are monitoring devices that will answer
snmp queries from any box, no.
If you are monitoring the MRTG box via ip, yes.
If you are monitoring devices that expect queries to
come from a specific IP address, yes.
Depending on how you answer will depend on what you
can do or not. I had a situation where my box
changed ip addresses occasionally. I just wrote a
script that would check once an hour to verify the
ip address was the same. If it wasn't, I made the
appropriate changes to the config files, suspended
querying of all targets, fired off another script that
updated the access lists of all the devices I was
monitoring, then re-enabled monitoring. Real PITA.
I got it changed to a static address eventually,
because my script was causing odd graphs as a result
of having to take one or two polls off to change all
the access lists.

I am running MRTG on a 'nix box. The IP address is assigned
dynamically. While the IP address doesn't change very often, it does
change every other week or so. Do I need to do anything to MRTG, e.g.
re-build a config file, when the IP changes?
