Has anyone (using Microsoft) managed to successfully convert a LOG file
(with a couple of years history) to RRD?
I (and at least one other subscriber to this list) are having troubles, and
Microsoft is not Tobi's area of expertise
So I would love to hear (directly, don't flood the list) from anyone who
has done a successful conversion.
Firstly what OS, ServicePack, MRTG version and RRD version. But also other
info, eg Perl version, Processor type/speed, memory, or ANYTHING that might
help.
I have tried w2kPro sp3, MRTG 2.9.22, RRD 1.0.38, Perl 5.6.1.633 on a
PIII450 with 256RAM and even back to an old PII, NT4 sp6 with MRTG 2.9.14,
rrd 1.0.28. All fail to produce good data.
What I end up with is maybe some useful data, but the rest is either zero,
a very low spike (maybe a negative value), or such a ludicrously high
number that MaxBytes cuts it off.
I will put back to the list (and Tobi) any useful summary that I can get.
I want to move to RRD, but do not want to lose two years historical trend
data. OK I can store the last PNG & HTML produced from the LOG files, but
it's not the same.
