[mrtg] Graphs in 'k'

I am graphing the Sendmail mail queue and when there are 2,710 messages in
the queue the MRTG graphs display 271k messages in the queue.  How can I
make MRTG display the correct value?

 

When there are 1169 messages in the mail queue MRTG displays the value
correctly.
