Oops...

perl -e 'use POSIX;print ctime(1074967501);'

You've set the clock ahead and have done an update.
(you meaning something or someone, on your computer).

Result:
MRTG did its job as if that date was the real date.
The logfile wasn't updated for 2 months and the situation
was "corrected".  The current logfile contains data as if
it were January 24 2004.

Not really.  You can restore the logfile.
