[mrtg] Single DB Value Archiving/Logging

Hi folks,
 

I have a need to be able to reference any value (5min, 30min, etc) for
which mrtg produces for all interfaces (in less than 5 minutes). I use
these numeric values today to drive link color on my infraMon maps. It
is also useful for providing a TopN app and can be used very effectively
for aiding in capacity analysis on a larger scale.

 

Today I have a script which goes into every rrd and pulls the numbers.
However this does not scale into very large environments. 

 

Has anyone on this list modified the mrtg process to BOTH update an rrd
for standard graphing but also somehow log to a single db (or rrd) ALL
the interface data? This would also seem to having other scaling issues
so I'm not sure of the technique I'm asking for but figured I'd throw it
out for discussion.
