D'oh! I didn't read the message the whole way.
Alex is completely correct - MRTG will not open
any ports on a machine. Other programs might, unless
you ran a scan while MRTG was running a coillection.
Then it needs to open up the port to talk snmp to the
devices it is getting information from.

Installing MRTG and having open ports are totally unrelated.
MRTG isn't a server application and doesn't listen to ports.
