[mrtg] rrdtool time - number of reading relation

Dear sirs

I put 14all.cgi and routers2.cgi working, but both are showing the
following:
the daily graphs have square format, I mean, they take very few points to
generate the graphs. Because of that, people who see the graphs think that
rrdtool is not working all the time.

It can be happening because the rrdtool`s property of increasing the
interval of readings if you increase the total interval.
For example, if you fetch 1-hour interval, it shows 60 readings of 1 minute.
But if you monitor 36 hours, it increases to 440 or 500 seconds by reading.

Is there a way to manually control the time - number of readings relation ?
