[mrtg] OID for Services running?

Hi all,
 
 
I'm wondering if there are OID that ca be scanned to know if a services
(like http, or ftp or whatever) is up and running correctly?
Or do I have to create a script that should give me a 1 or a 0 back? or
something like that?
