[mrtg] Monthly Graphs average

Hi everyone

I've seen MRTG configurations that has different average periods 
for tha graphs, for example Monthly Graph (1 Hour Average).

Is the average fix some perl hack to change the average or is
this configurable the regular way?

Does some one has a solution you might want to share with me?
