Hi All
I have a AVAYA Cajun P882 switch and I need to graph the traffic =
statistic for each VLAN on it with MRTG. Below is the process AVAYA's =
SMON Manager work to collect and display the VLAN Statistic on AVAYA =
switchs.
1. after you had started the P882 Device Manager - Device SMON - VLAN =
Statistics
2. the SMON manager (written by Avaya) will go and learn
- the modules installed in the switch using ProminetMIB - Avaya =
private MIBs
- the vlans configured in the switch (ProminetMIB)
- it will then learn what are the interfaces (ports) installed (using =
RMON and ProminetMIB)
3. when the Device SMON manager polled the switch for info
- it will first retrieve the switch current time (MIB2)
- Using ProminetMIB - find the vlans active on the switch and the vlan =
assigned to each port
- once they know the ports, it will retrieve ifInOctets, =
ifInUcastPkts, ifInNUcastPkts (MIB2) from all the ports
4. The Device SMON manager will then sum the ifInOctets, ifInUcastPkts, =
ifInNUcastPkts for each vlan and then present it in the graph.
Because, SMON statistics does not just poll the data from a =
single object. I have to use several different MIBs object to get the =
information required. Because of I know a little about MRTG and MIB. My =
question are:=20
1. Can I do graph the VLAN statistic of each VLAN on AVAYA =
switch by MRTG like SMON manager or not ?=20
The attachment are all the MIB files used by SMON manager and =
also a sniffer trace file showing how SMON manager collect the VLAN =
statistic. Any advice, tips, feedback, etc. would be greatly =
appreciated.
Regards =20
