[mrtg] Zombie Issues

Hi Guys,

I was hoping you guys might have some thoughtful inputs regarding the
Zombies that are attacking my memory.

I'm running MRTG on a Pentium MMX cpu MHz : 200.454,

I'm running 6 config files with 8 - 10 targets each forks set to 3,
running one minute apart. except two which are started together.
I'm also using ping probe in two separate config's to check packet loss
and RTT averages.

Problem is there are literally hundreds of MRTG process running as set out
below with the defunct. In top it says there are 210 Zombie processes, and
my RAM is being eaten alive. Actually I would like to know what these
zombie processes are, why I have so many MRTG processes running that are
defunct and still appear to be using RAM, also where the pot of gold at
the end of rainbow is would be nice.

I'm still rather new to the world of Linux,
Please excuse any ignorance on my behalf.

Thanks
Nic
