I am having the same problem a couple of other posters have reported:

Possible precedence problem on bitwise | operator at /usr/bin/../lib/mrtg2/BER.pm line 619.

RedHat 8.0
MRTG 2.0

Everything was running fine, then mysteriously stopped working. Just a guess, but I have up2date running automatically, and yesterday the update was:

up2date installing packages: ['perl-5.8.0-88.3', 'perl-CGI-2.81-88.3', 'perl-CPAN-1.61-88.3', 'perl-DB_File-1.804-88.3', 'perl-suidperl-5.8.0-88.3', 'rhpl-0.54-0.8.0.1']

Anybody wanna bet RH broke my install?
