[mrtg] MRTG Threshold periodicity

hi,

i use mrtg 2.9.27 since some month without problems

but i have a question about "Threshold" in MRTG, i will know the 
periodicity of alarm when a value is breach. May be it's just one time, 
or every 2 hours ? i have no idea. It is possible to configure this value ?

because i wouldn't receive a mail every minutes when my alarm is reach.
