Turns ANY app into a service. Lots easier than srvany or other kludgey
methods.

You could make it a service:
Create a batch file called mrtg.bat with the following line:
perl mrtg mrtg.cfg
Save it in your MRTG \bin folder
Save the following to a text file called mrtg.reg (Modify the
Application
and AppDirectory lines to reflect your actual installation directory):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRTG]
"Type"=dword:00000010
"Start"=dword:00000002
"ErrorControl"=dword:00000001
"ImagePath"=hex(2):73,00,72,00,76,00,61,00,6e,00,79,00,00,00
"DisplayName"="MRTG"
"DependOnService"=hex(7):54,00,63,00,70,00,69,00,70,00,00,00,00,00
"DependOnGroup"=hex(7):00,00
"ObjectName"="LocalSystem"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRTG\Parameters]
"Application"="D:\\mrtg-2.9.27\\bin\\mrtg.bat"
"AppDirectory"="D:\\mrtg-2.9.27\\bin\\"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRTG\Security]

Double click on the file to import it in your registry.
Obtain the resource kit files instsrv.exe and srvany.exe and save them
to
your \winnt directory
Open a command window and type:
instsrv MRTG srvany
Open Services and start the new MRTG service. If you use WMI scripts you
will need to change the startup user to a local administrator account.
Your mrtg.conf file must contain the line "RunAsDaemon: Yes" for the
service
to run every 5 minutes.
Good luck!

Does anyone have a good way to auto-start mrtg (wperl) when the Windows
2003 Server that it's running on is restarted?
