Another way to collect data from the remote host is to install something
like pNSclient or NRPE (the Nagios agents, pNSclient is for windows and NRPE
is unix or windows).  You can query these with the mrtg-pnsclient and
mrtg-nrpe utilities included with routers.cgi.  NRPE lets you run any number
of pre-defined scripts on the monitored host, optionally with parameters,
and obtain a number from the output.  pNSclient lets you query any PerfMon
counter to get its value.
