[mrtg] SNMP error for linux

HI,
 Somebody tell me why i get this error  when i do snmp walk on linux
machine.
The community is public.
snmpd is running

SNMP Error:
no response received
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "x.x.x.x" [x.x.x.x].161)
                  community: "public"
                 request ID: -584392010
                PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
                    timeout: 2s
                    retries: 5
