I downgraded to 2.11 and now it works perfectly with the same
configuration files.

I have exactly the same problem. Running mrtg-2.12.2 under Centos 4.2.

But no solution unfortunately...

The last version of mrtg on which this worked was 4.0.9 on an RedHat 9
system.
