[mrtg] SNMP on tasman 1004

Does anyone know what is needed to get SNMP to work on a tasman 1004? 
I've tried just about every option I can find on both the router side
and the server side.  I'd like to get it working with MRTG, but I
can't seem to get a response from it using any SNMP utility.  FWIW,
it's firmware version 7.0.1.  I've opened a ticket with tasman, but
int he mean time, if anyone knows what special thing is needed, please
let me know.
