Actually, I am very curious about this too, I monitor errors and expect
to see blank graphs, but the less graphs that I have to bring up the
better, and empty graphs waste processor and bandwidth, especially when
I am looking at 50-60 graphs per router. This would be a great little
add on!

I hadn't really thought about that but I guess you're right. Has anyone
ever thought about using the returns to right scripts for alerts? E.g.,
in this case, CRC errors or collisions are typically zero so monitoring
them will be boring and hopefully uneventful. Has anyone ever used MRTG
(or the SNMP data returned to MRTG) to alert on anything that is
non-zero or non-zero for a certain number of samples?

Yup. Have a look at RMON. It's got all kinds of goodies.

I find that often the answers are zero so the graphs don't look very
interesting.
