Is there a way to run snmpget or snmpwalk that mrtg uses from the
command line of the server that mrtg is installed on?

I am trying to trouble a problem with two devices that are on my network
that I cannot connect to with mrtg. The mrtg server is now on the
172.31.16/22 subnet and the devices in question are on the 172.24.6.0/24
subnet. We recently moved the mrtg server from the 172.18.111.0/24
subnet where SNMP to these devices was working.
I have verified the community string and can do snmpwalk from other
subnets.

I can ping the devices from the mrtg server but when I try to create a
config I get the following error

[root at mrtg mrtg]# traceroute 172.24.6.25
