[mrtg] Configuring MRTG/rrdtool with <1 minute intervals

Not at present as it's a pretty rare configuration. The vast majority of users have 5-min, and some use 1-min. The existing 6-hour graphs give down to 1-minute resolution, and of course will still work even if you have 10second polling in the RRD file - you just will not be able to see the full resolution available.

Adding a higher resolution graph - for example, a 1-hour graph - is not so hard. The problem is all the supporting code for the multiple languages, dynamic menus, testing to see if the RRD actually supports this, additional checks for sanity and validity, and the other graphs you'd probably require, such as a zoomin for each individual hour of the day. This is a lot of extra work to code in, and it would probably be more efficient to go the whole hog and support a general time window with sanity checking - even more work, and requiring a major change to the structure of the program.

If you're just coding for a specific case, things are easier, but routers2 needs to be completely flexible to work under all configurations.

Anyway - add a request on the forum at http://www.steveshipway.org/forum

Steve

Are there any plans for Routers2cgi to support <1 min. polling?
