[mrtg] MRTG files naming convention

Actually, MRTG will name the files based on whatever the Target[] name is (the thing between the square brackets), mapped to lower case and with certain special characters removed.

What you are probably referring to is the output from the cfgmaker script which generates MRTG configuration files with Target names in this format: <device identifier>_<interface identifier>

Since you have specified your device as an IP address you'll get an IP for the first; if you call cfgmaker with --ifref=ip then it will use IP address as the unique interface identifier (default will be interface number). Later versions of cfgmaker can specify more than one alternative for the --ifref option in case the first is not unique (see the documentation for cfgmaker for more details)

Subject: [mrtg] MRTG files naming convention

Dear all,
Please I have a question, the default naming convention of the MRTG collected files is:
Device IP_interface number
I want to know how to convert it to:
Device IP_ interface IP
Thanks a lot.
Best Regards,
Mustafa
