I dont know why but the box that runs mrtg causes the errors below. I
tried in on my laptop and it works fine. Having a look im using a newer
version on mrtg that the server. (fedora8 and cant update it now) I copied
the config from my laptop to the server and it runs ok now with no errors?
All I can thing is version.
I have noticed on at lease 2 gig ethernets stats for 240Gb/s which is
impossible. Any ideas why it would do this?

Max Average Current In 2316.7 kb/s (0.2%) 79.9 kb/s (0.0%) 13.1 kb/s (0.0%)
Out 240.6 Gb/s (24056.0%) 1062.0 Mb/s (106.2%) 19.4 kb/s (0.0%)

Thanks

Lee

Daniel
I have changed the config and re run cfgmaker with the following
cfgmaker --output=/etc/mrtg/wc1-6000.cfg --global
workdir:/var/www/mrtg/wc1-6000 --ifref=nr --global "options[_]:
growright,bits" --snmp-options=:::::2 xxxxxx at 172.x.x.x

When I run it I get the following errors. I have tried changing the
--ifref etc to other options and get the same.

Any ideas?

It is a limit of snmp version 1. the 32 bit counter rolls over twice in
5 minutes at ~120mb/seconds

switch to snmp version 2c or snmp version 3. These versions support 64
bit counters, which rollover about 1 four-millionth less frequently,
making those versions entirely appropriate for speeds up to about a
petabit per second.

snmpv2 can be set very simply. Please read
http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/doc/cfgmaker.en.html for complete
instructions. snmpv3 is a little more challenging to configure, but
provides cryptographic integrity. Once you get templates set up for
snmpv3, the operation is pretty straight-forward.
