Let's first discuss the basic outlines because this is going to have

You mean:  #include "anotherpart.c" ?
I do this often when I'm hacking rrd_graph.  Then I include the
function back into rrd_graph when I'm done.

The benefit of doing it the proper way (compiling separate functions,
not including them) is visible when the program needs to be recompiled
after a change.
