Another idea I had was that TICK should have a mechanism for
only appearing in a specific quadrant.  For example, to just highlight
something on the postive y-axis and not on the negative y-axis...

I just refreshed to CVS tip of tree, which contains Scott's one line
fix. Some quick tests suggest TICK is working. Thanks for tracking this
