[rrd-developers] First time changing rrdtool source. Changes are not there

Hello,

i am using rrdtool-1.0.49 for linux.
I've changed a line in rrd_format.c, which was just the
error text outputed when the consolidation function is wrong
(unknown consolidation function '...').
After changing, i compile the source again with make und install it
with make install. But when i call "rrdtool create ..." with an
unknown cf, the error output is always the usual one. My changes are
not there. The rrdtool file is overwritten but it seems to always be the old
version. How can i recompile rrdtool with my changes ?
