Tobi, this is partially done:

If the pdp-per-row changes, or a new RRA is added, I try to preserve and derive as much data as possible.
Having this, changing the step is doable...

sure ... especially since it just adds new functionality and comes
with documentation ...
now, if you add the ability to even change the step and existing RRAs
while preserving the data I bet people will start traveling to AT
to worship you :-)
