[rrd-users] make install problem

Hello all:

there probably is an answer to my question somewhere but since I just joined
this mailing list I have not seen it.

Today I attempted to install rrd 1.0.21 on my AIX 4.3.2 system.

A previous install of rrd on my linux system v1.0.9 was a no brainer mostly.

This however configures and makes ok i think but when I run make install it
eventually does this:

config/install-sh -c -m 644 perl-shared/blib/arch/auto/RRDs/RRDs.bs
/opt/rrdtool/lib/perl/auto/RRDs
config/install-sh -c -m 755 perl-shared/blib/arch/auto/RRDs/RRDs.a
/opt/rrdtool/lib/perl/auto/RRDs
install:  perl-shared/blib/arch/auto/RRDs/RRDs.a does not exist
make[2]: *** [install-data-local] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/opt/rrdtool-1.0.21'
make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/opt/rrdtool-1.0.21'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

A check of perl-shared/blib/arch/auto/RRDs/ reveals that indeed there is no
RRDs.a
There is the following:

# ls -l
total 2264
-rw-r--r--   1 root     50             0 Apr 01 1999  .exists
-rw-r--r--   1 root     50             0 May 18 11:39 RRDs.bs
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root     50       1156340 May 18 11:39 RRDs.so


I used sh configure --prefix=/opt/rrdtool --enable-shared and then
make
make install
