[rrd-users] newbie confused questoin

Ok,

I've read the documentation and have created some rrd's and such, but am
confused about the inherent way rrdtool works. If I define an rrd such as is
done in the tutorial, ie:
600 5-minute samples:    2   days and 2 hours
600 30-minute samples:  12.5 days
600 2-hour samples:     50   days
732 1-day samples:     732   days

Doesn't this mean that I only have 50 hours of 5 minute samples right? So
then how is it that if I graph my data for a time period that extends beyond
50 hours ago...say between 150 and 100 hours ago, that I can still get the 5
minute samples? Doesn't my defined rrd only store it for the past 50 hours?
Or am I using the second RRA that is good for 12.5 days, and extracting five
minute samples from that?

I am definetley a tad confused, but I think I may have answered my own
question...
