I don't think there is another way than to display each value.  After
all, this was the original request.  So, there are 4 values per hour,
24 hours per day and 356 days per year --> 4*24*365 pixels is the
minimum amount to display it all.  35040 pixels it is.

Like you said, there *is* a reason why consolidation happens ;)

Mind that there may be a valid reason to keep all of those 35040 values
in an RRA; you may want to display 2.5 hours starting from a year ago.

If so, it is worth it to keep the values around.  It is however also
a good idea to *also* have an RRA with a resolution of 3600 seconds
per CDP.

Not so long ago I posted a message on this list with the results of
some experiments covering this.  It does help RRDtool to have both
RRAs around.
