[rrd-users] Smokeping - ProbeDesc error

When I access the following target:
http://canatmon01.ca.kworld.kpmg.com/cgi/smokeping.cgi?target=KPMG.SWITCH

I get the following error:
Can't call method "ProbeDesc" on an undefined value at
/usr/local/smokeping/lib/Smokeping.pm line 398. 

However if I run smokeping.cgi from a local prompt and feed it the proper
name/value pair the proper html page gets displayed. 

Any ideas what is happening (my guess is a permissions problem, but I
haven't a clue)? My config looks something like:

binary = /usr/local/sbin/fping
