The current time (at the time you entered the command) is 1027940092.
Why does this prove that the current time at runtime wasn't 926511414 ?

I can't tell you that nobody at your site didn't make a mistake.
What I can tell you is that it seems strange to me that your update
takes place at *exactly* Mon Jul 29 12:30:00 2002 MET DST
and the next update is *not* at an exact 5-minute interval:
926511414 means Wed May 12 14:16:54 1999 MET DST

I would expect time 1027938900, this is a difference with 926511414
of 101427486 or 0x060BA91E. To me this number looks nothing special
so I think no programming error is involved (at least: not RRDtool).

Some random possibilities:
- NTP messing up, due to clock problems on another computer
- Hacker trying to break something by adjusting the time.

Look in your logs and carefully check the time span from 12:30 to 12:40.
There may be lines in there that indicate the clock was set wrong.

And as a side note: if you expect people to help it may be a good idea
to at least mention your OS, its version and the RRDtool version you're
using. Note "at least".
