It seems to me that you're graphing the numbers as GAUGEs.  This is not
necessarily true.  It could be, for instance, reported in miliseconds
since startup, in which case it is a COUNTER.

Perhaps the "example for the external program interface" on the faq
site may help you as well, just like faq entry #9 will.
