I had the same problem on a sparc. What I did was I searched the configure
file for the error and then commented out the line that says to abort. Then
when I re-ran it, it worked just fine. The line I commented out was on line
951 and looked like this:
PROBLEMCC=`$PERL -e 'use Config; exit 0 if -x $Config{cc}; map {if (-x
"$_/$Config{cc}"){exit 0}} split /:/, $ENV{PATH};print $Config{cc}'`

No Luck Serge....
The same error
checking for the C compiler perl wants to use to build its modules...
configure:
test: unknown operator -B/usr/ccs/bin/
Is it because of absence of space between -B and the path.....? It's just my
guess...

Not really. It presume it gets it through the "./configure" script. you
could try to rename cc to old_cc and make a symlink to gcc named cc.
Serge.

Hello Serge,
Well, I'm using gcc 3.2 and I have no clue from where it is picking the path
/usr/ccs/bin... Any clue..?

My guess: You're not using gcc, but SUNs cc, which probably won't work.
Either install gcc or look up cc's equivalent for the -B switch and repeat
that for all the other switches it doesn't understand.
Serge.
